Boreal Expedition

We will leave from the Airport in Keflavik, heading to the Snaefellsnes peninsula, or what they call it, “Little Iceland”, since it concentrates a representation of different landscapes of the island. There we will see the famous volcano through which Jules Verne accessed the center of the earth, el Snaefellsjökull. On the route to the West – Northwest of the island we will see black sand beaches, basaltic formations, cliffs, volcanic cones, the Kirkjufell waterfall and mountain and the famous Búdakirkja black church, considered a national monument, This was built in the year 1703, making it one of the oldest in the country.

We will start the day towards Thingvellir, original seat of the Icelandic Parliament and observatory of the separation between the Eurasian and American tectonic plates with its small Öxarárfoss waterfall. We will visit one of the most emblematic circuits in Iceland, the “Golden Circle”. We will continue towards the impressive Gullfoss waterfall, known as the "golden waterfall", with its double waterfall that will leave you breathless. Finally, we will visit Geysir, the geothermal area where you can see the famous Strokkur geyser in action, that shoots columns of boiling water 20 meters high.

We will start early and head towards Dyrhólaey, cliff area, black sand beaches and one of the oldest lighthouses in Iceland. We will continue visiting “Reynisfjara Black Beach” or Playa de los Trolls; some striking marine pillars of volcanic origin, that hide a famous legend; Trolls who were petrified by the morning sunlight. To end the day, We will make a small contact with the ice, We will visit the Sólheimajokull glacier tongue, the largest in Myrdalsjöjull and if possible, we will put our feet on it.

But Höfn, We will explore the majestic Skaftafell National Park, where we will admire the impressive Svinafellsjökull glacier tongue, a wonder of ice that extends into the valley. Then, We will head to the iconic Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, where floating icebergs create an ethereal landscape, followed by a visit to the famous Diamond Beach, where ice crystals shine like diamonds on the black sand. We continue the adventure in Fjallsárlón, another impressive less crowded glacier tongue, and we will end the day with a stop in Vestrahorn, known for its dramatic mountain landscapes, and an exciting ice cave exploration.

We will start the day early watching the sunrise on the famous Vestrahorn Mountain, the most photographed in the entire country, on the Stokksnes Peninsula; fine black dunes and a calm sea, It is hypnotic and wild. Despite the wildness of the area, The access road to Stokksnes is private property so to get to it we will have to pay an entrance fee (800 crowns, some 6 euros per person) at the Viking Café. We will continue visiting tongues of the largest glacier in Europe, Fjallsárlón; a beautiful and silent glacier lagoon, that due to the absence of tourists, will allow us to hear the roar of the ice. We are heading along the “Ring Road” towards the huge Seljalandsfoss waterfall., with his 57 meters high and where we can walk behind its curtain of water, followed towards the less known, but no less beautiful “hidden waterfall Glufrafoss”. We will return to the path, seeing multiple waterfalls along the way until we reach and admire the main waterfall of the Skogar River.; Skogafoss, what, with his 62 meters of fall, will leave us frozen.

This day is dedicated to transfers to Keflavik International Airport, We organize several departures depending on the time of the traveler's flight, taking into account that we must take them with 3 hours in advance to have enough time for the Check-in and customs process.
