Iceland's most feared Viking was also a poet.
Egill Skallagrímsson was not important only for his battles. It was important because his life became one of the great stories of Icelandic literature..
He was a warrior, farmer, traveler, rebel and poet. His world was marked by family disputes, trips through the North Atlantic, conflicts with kings and a deep relationship with the word.
In Nordic culture, poetry was not simple decoration. It was power. It was honor. It was memory.
Poems are attributed to Egill that remain a fundamental part of his legend: Head solution, remembered as the poem that saved his life, and Sonator, where the pain for the loss of his children is transformed into one of the most human expressions of the sagas.
That's why the Egill Saga exists.: because his life brought together everything Iceland wanted to remember — violence, family, pride, exile, poetry, pain and resistance.
And the most powerful thing is that this story still has territory.

Hunting auroras in Iceland does not depend solely on being in a famous place. It also requires correctly interpreting the sky, geomagnetic activity, the cloudiness, darkness and the evolution of the forecast.
That's why, At Boreal Expedition we connect the main observation points of our route with the Boreal App, a tool created to help us read all that information and make better decisions during the hunt.
The application allows you to review solar activity, the KP index, the auroral oval, cloud cover and conditions in each area. So we can compare different points, adjust the route and approach the place with the best possibilities at the right time.
Auroras can never be guaranteed, because nature is unpredictable. But we can prepare better, interpret the data and increase our chances.
